The concept of WebWordSystem was developed by Diane and Erik Rohde in 2005 based on their experience within the translation industry, and based on the tools available on the market back then. They believed that the tools available did not use the latest technology to its full potential. And thus, in co-operation with an IT company, they devised WebWordSystem.
The purpose of WebWordSystem was to develop a web-based translation tool that was efficient, easy to use, future-proof, and affordable to everyone.
The philosophy behind WebWordSystem is that "your translations are valuable to other people, just as their translations are valuable to you" – regardless of where in the world you are. This means that you can benefit from terms and segments already translated in any language, which will speed up the translation process and increase the level of quality as the system allows users to define their own language policy.
The objective is to make WebWordSystem the preferred translation tool for terminology and segment integration within a few years and thus create an international knowledge database covering all language combinations.
